Gisborne – Te Tairāwhiti or Te Tai Rāwhiti

Gisborne is an area of north-eastern New Zealand; the region is also commonly referred to as the East Coast The region is commonly divided into the East Cape and Poverty Bay. It is bounded by mountain ranges to the west, rugged country to the south, and faces east onto the Pacific Ocean.

Hawkes Bay – Te Matau-a-Māui

The Hawkes Bay is on the east coast of the North Island. The region’s name derives from Hawke Bay, which was named by Captain James Cook in honour of Admiral Edward Hawke.

The region is renowned for its horticulture, with large orchards and vineyards on the plains. In the hilly parts of the region sheep and cattle farming predominates, with forestry blocks in the roughest areas.
