Health and Wellbeing Checks

While we regularly take our car to a mechanic for a warrant of fitness check, we tend to neglect our own health and wellbeing status.

Proactive’s health and wellbeing checks can help your workers understand their health risks early, and intervene to reduce the risk of long term harm. The benefits for business include a healthier, more productive workforce, fewer sick days and absences, along with a staff that are more engaged with the workplace.

Vaccinations

Vaccinations against Influenza, Hepatitis A+B , and Tetanus can be given by our specially trained Occupational Health Nurses. Influenza (more commonly known as the ‘flu’) is an illness that may affect many employees for a period of time and be contagious in the workplace – causing business interruption through sickness absence. Offering your employees the opportunity to participate in an autumn vaccination programme has proven cost benefits for companies.

We can provide your employees with a brief presentation to dispel the myths around immunisation and to promote the benefits of influenza immunisation.

If your employees are exposed to the biohazards of Hepatitis A or B and vaccination is part of your hazard control programme, Proactive Occupational Health is able to vaccinate your employee either on your site or at Proactive Occupational Health’s office.

Rehabilitation in the workplace

At Proactive, we focus on our Four Corners of Health approach to underpin the way in which we with the people in our care. Our Four Corners of Health approach focuses on Function (physical activity) Mindset, Nutrition (what we eat), and Sleep form the foundation of our health.

Almost all of us end up sustaining an injury or illness during our working career where we need to take time off work to recover. This can be a normal step to take in the short term to help us recover and get back on our feet.

Prolonged time off work can have negative effects on our physical and mental wellness. Research shows that the longer you are off work the less chance you have of getting back to work at all, which can further compound these negative effects.

Many of us don’t know what is out there to help and what ACC offer to assist in getting us fit for work and returning back to work.

The purpose of the test is to verify that each wearer has a mask that provides an effective seal against contaminants in the atmosphere. Initial and refresher education is included, covering donning and doffing of respirator and the use, care and maintenance of the device.

Workplace Assessments

Getting a suitable person for the job is what employers want. Part of that suitability is ensuring that the person has the physical capacity to perform the duties of the role, and that the tasks undertaken are not going to cause harm to the person. Pre- employment health assessments also enable a recording of baseline health information; particularly important when the job requires the person to be exposed to hazards such as noise or dust.

Pre-employments can include a variety of tests which vary for each company. The testing performed is role and task specific. It is important that each health assessment is structured to suit the employee’s work activities within the company. Proactive is available to advise your company on appropriate pre-employment health procedures.

Exit assessments are done prior to an employee leaving the company, and this is a way of verifying that the person’s health has not been adversely affected by their employment. This protects the employer, and reassures the employee that their health has not been compromised during their employment.
