Dr Michael Kahan

Dr Michael Kahan is an Occupational Physician who works with Waikato Occupational Services Ltd.

Michael is also the Medical Advisor for Laura Ferguson Trust, specialising in Head injury and Stroke rehabilitation. His clinical, research and teaching interests include medical training, neurology and musculoskeletal injury. Michael has recently stepped down as TPD. One of Michael’s research studies is the Bionic Study (Brain Injury Outcomes New Zealand in the Community) and he is currently researching the effect of head injury on return to work outcomes. He is a faculty research associate with National Institute of Stroke and Applied Neuroscience at AUT.

He works with a number of industries including Fonterra, New Zealand Rugby Union, Waikato University and Department of Conservation.

In his spare time Michael is a keen apiarist and ornithologist. He loves the outdoors and instructs youth on bush craft skills as part of the Duke of Edinburg scheme.
