A difficult but successful season for Proactive Northwest and Massey Rugby Club.
Proactive Northwest Auckland team has had the pleasure of working with Massey Rugby Club during the difficult 2020 season. Tom and Andrew Looked after the prem’s whilst Kamal and Mark supported the reserves and under 21’s respectively. It was a tough season due to the global pandemic but the teams managed to get half a season completed. As a result of the pandemic, Massey saw a number of old rugby club graduates return from overseas. The Proactive team were fortunate enough to being working with many players playing professionally in France and Japan, including front row Chris Eves, currently playing for Super Rugby side the Sunwolves and Manawhatu in the Mitre 10 cup and Samoan International, Tusi Pisi. Many of the Massey team successfully won Mitre 10 contracts for North Harbour Rugby and also West Auckland’s representative side and the Proactive team are proud to have supported the players in reaching these achievements.
During the season the Proactive team worked hard to improve the running of the medical care to bring it up to a more professional standard. We are happy to report that Massey RFC were pleased with our efforts and have invited us to work with them again next season. We hope that 2021 will present less of a challenge to getting players on the rugby field!
