Cricket Wellington oversees the administration, organisation and delivery of all forms of cricket to everyone in the greater Wellington region. Proactive treats both the Wellington Firebirds men’s and the Wellington Blaze women’s representative cricket teams.
The Wellington Hockey Association has a long and prestigious history and has been in existence for over 100 years. Many of our players have represented their country in Olympic Games, World Championships and International Fixtures seemingly beyond count, while the region acquits itself with distinction in national competitions at all levels. During the winter months, the Wellington Hockey Association comprises of youth, secondary and open grade competitions comprising thousands of players across Youth, Secondary, Senior/Open grades. Over the summer, a range of competitions are run to satisfy the recreational and performance minded hockey player. These are run at all venues and the competitions are structured to ensure that even competitors that have never played previously can participate and enjoy our fantastic sport.
PONEKE FOOTBALL CLUB
The Poneke Football Club was founded in 1883 and is one of the grand old clubs of NZ Rugby. The clubrooms are situated at Kilbirnie Park in the eastern suburbs of Wellington. The Club fields 11 Senior teams: Premier, two Senior teams, Colts, a Women’s team, two Reserve Grade teams, two U85kg teams, Presidents, and a Vintage (Golden Oldies) Team. It has well over 300 junior players from the U6 Rippa grade to U13s. Poneke is renowned for hard, competitive rugby on the field and a strong family culture off. You don’t just play for Poneke, you belong.
KCU FOOTBALL CLUB
Kapiti Coast United (KCU) is an association football club in New Zealand. Our home ground is Weka Park in Raumati Beach on the Kapiti Coast. KCU is one of the largest football clubs in Wellington, New Zealand, with 12 senior teams in the Capital and Horowhenua leagues and over 500 junior members. KCU won both the 2015 Kapiti Sports Awards and 2015 Wellington Sports Awards Club of the year title.
Stop Out is a football club based at Hutt Park, Seaview in Lower Hutt. The name Stop Out is derived from the depression days when boys would stay out late at night kicking a football about. The kids were affectionately known as ‘stop outs’ period slang for troubled youth. The organisation became involved with several sports over the course of its history, notably athletics, softball and boxing, but football is today the main focus. The senior club has grown to 5 Men’s teams, plus 3 teams in the Masters Division and 4 Women’s teams. Stop Out is the only Wellington football club represented in both the Men’s and Women’s Central League. In 2019 Stop out celebrates its centenary.

Hutt Valley Netball runs the junior and senior netball competitions in the Hutt Valley, based at the Walter Nash Stadium in Lower Hutt. Hutt Valley Netball also runs development programmes with the support of Netball New Zealand
WESTERN SUBURBS SOCCER CLUB
At Western Suburbs Soccer Club, our objective is to promote, develop and foster the game of football. We focus on achieving this through maximum participation and providing pathways for our members to achieve their maximum potential as players, coaches, referees and administrators. To support a lifetime of football for both male and female members, the club provides for all ages.
WELLINGTON TRIATHLON CLUB
The Wellington Triathlon Club is one of the largest, most active and inclusive triathlon clubs in New Zealand. It started in 1985 and currently includes over 200 members of all skills and abilities (from beginners, to social racers and elite competitors, some of whom have competed at Commonwealth and Olympic Games). There is a vibrant and growing triathlon environment in the Wellington region, with a series of events ranging from low-key starter events through to the National ‘Standard Distance’ Championship races organised by Triathlon New Zealand and held every year. The Tri Club is happy to be working with Proactive to continue to grow our base and keep them racing to their potential and beyond!
Wellington Disc Sports is the regional division for Ultimate (Frisbee) and Disc Golf. Ultimate is an exciting, fast-paced game with both an outdoors and an indoors version. Spirit of the game is one of the most important parts of Ultimate, the game is self-refereed and relies on the spirit of sportsmanship from all players. The game is now played by a variety of schools around the region, and players of all ages regularly represent New Zealand in tournaments around the world.

Mt Wellington RFC aims to be the number one sports club in the local and wider community for all age groups, whilst promoting and working with local businesses and community groups.
WELLINGTON OLYMPIC AFC
Wellington Olympic has its origins dating back to 1953 when a group of Greek immigrants established Apollon to play football and ensure the community came together as family and friends. Since then the club has gone through several transformations renaming itself as Wellington Olympic in 1983. The latest transformation of establishing our base at Berhampore’s Wakefield Park is a key milestone for the club. We now have a permanent home and aim for it to benefit the greater Wellington Community.
Wellington Olympic is proud of its heritage and endeavours to compete at the highest levels. It is one of the powerhouses of Wellington football with teams across a broad base of competitions including juniors and now with its association with the Kaizen Football Academy will become even stronger. The appointment of Stu Jacobs is part of our strategic plan to continue to develop players to support our future successes including winning titles at all levels and developing our younger players to strive for football scholarships and play professionally in the future.
PALMERSTON NORTH MARIST FOOTBALL
Palmerston North Marist Football is the largest senior football club in the Central Region with 17 teams scattered among every men’s and women’s competition in the district.
The Club is an integral member of the sporting community and is a key feeder organisation for players aspiring for higher honours at representative level for Central Region and National Representative sides.
WELLINGTON SAMOAN RUGBY UNION
The Wellington Samoan Rugby Union (WSRU) aims to provide opportunities for players of Samoan heritage to participate and showcase their talent and press their claims for selection to represent Wellington, New Zealand, Manu Samoa or Manu Sina. WSRU have 3 teams, Senior Men, Senior Women and U18 Schoolboys. They compete in the Hurricanes regional competitions.
